The SMS

Thursday, March 24th, 2005

A birth of another blog, of which I don’t know how long will it last.. but now that I’m here, lets type a few nonsense and sleep on it..
Now, where do I start?
Well, Ever since I woke up today (an hour ago), I’ve been wondering alot about that technology called Short Message System… the technology that allow people such as I, to save certain emotional unrest by talking on the phone.. of course there are emails, but then again, not everyone have the luxury of notebooks and PDAs (by PDAs, I mean the ones with those expensive on board WiFis which is not included on mine)
Now what do I mean by emotional unrest? Well, when you’re talking on the phone with someone, you’re connected with that someone verbally thus allowing some degrees of emotions to flow with the voice.. It’s okey if you’re talking about something fun, but it’s different when you’re trying to say things like: “I cannot go to the office today”, or “I may be a little late, my cat just died”, or maybe trying to say “Happy Birthday..” to your ex. All those things that when done by talking will leave you somewhat feeling scared, annoyed, sad, angry, etc.
With SMS, all you have to do is only to compose the message (it may help to be a little bit crafty), punch in the number and send it away. Hup Presto! It is done, and you can go back to sleep, or whatever it was you’re doing.
BUT…but…there’s also some problem. With SMS. you cannot expect an immediate response to what you’re saying.. Yes, it may have been delivered to the other party’s cell, but to respond is his/her own decision. They might, for instance, refuse to reply.. and left you wondering till God knows how long. Okay, maybe they doesn’t have enough credit on their cell, but then again they just don’t want to reply, want to know, or want to have anything to do with you at all… well that just suck!
For my part, I think it’s impolite to have people wait for your respond, especially when you are of used to be close o you… It shows some lack of respect, you know?
So I guess I’d still prefer talking on the phone (’cept on those not so rare occasion when I don’t have enough credits left)
